- Drops from higher than phone height, onto a much larger and thinner panel.
- Battery swelling with age, which pushes the screen up and out of the frame.
- Charging ports worn out by years of daily plugging in.
- Pressure from being packed in bags under weight, which cracks panels without any drop at all.

What you can safely try
- Force restart before assuming failure.
- Charge with a proper tablet-rated adapter for at least an hour before concluding it's dead.
- Look into the charging port with a flashlight for lint.
- Back up to iCloud, Google, or Samsung Cloud while the tablet still runs.
- Note whether the problem started after a drop, a spill, or an update — it changes the diagnosis.
When to stop
- Stop charging any tablet whose screen is lifting away from the frame.
- Don't press a bulging screen back down.
- Don't clear the port with metal.
- Don't attempt a home screen replacement. Tablet glass is the least forgiving repair there is, and the battery is directly underneath.

- Back up first. Tablet repairs involve significant disassembly.
- Bring your passcode and account credentials for post-repair testing.
- Bring the charger you normally use if the complaint is charging-related.
- Expect to leave it with us rather than waiting.

- Tablet work is usually a drop-off. We'll give you a realistic pickup time when you bring it in.
- Cost is agreed before we start, not after.
- Qualifying repairs carry a lifetime warranty; we tell you when a repair doesn't qualify.
