Virus and Malware Removal in Gulfport, MS

Most of what people call a virus today isn't a classic virus. It's scam software, browser hijacks, fake security alerts, and unwanted programs that got installed alongside something else — and the goal of almost all of it is to get you to call a phone number and hand over money or remote access.

If you see a full-screen warning telling you to call Microsoft or Apple support, that's the scam itself. Don't call it. Bring the machine to us.

We clean Mac and Windows machines at our Gulfport shop, remove what shouldn't be there, and tell you how it got in so it doesn't happen again. A full wipe is a last resort here, not a starting point.

Step 1 of 3

What are we looking at?

What causes this

  • Fake update prompts on websites that install something other than an update.
  • Bundled installers that add toolbars, 'cleaners', and browser extensions alongside the program you wanted.
  • Email attachments and links, still one of the most effective ways in.
  • Pirated software and cracks, which are a delivery method as often as they're software.
  • Remote access willingly given to a scam caller, which is the worst case and the most urgent.

Symptoms to look for

  • Pop-ups that appear even when no browser is open
  • A homepage or search engine you didn't choose
  • Full-screen warnings with a phone number to call
  • New programs, toolbars, or extensions you never installed
  • The machine suddenly slow, hot, or with fans running constantly

Prevention advice

Plain-language guidance on what let it in, so you're not back in three months.

What you can safely try

  • Disconnect from the internet if you believe someone has remote access right now.
  • Do not call the number in the warning. Close the browser instead, force-quitting it if needed.
  • Change passwords for email and banking from a different device.
  • Note what you clicked and when — it genuinely speeds up cleanup.
  • Back up your important files if the machine is still usable.

When to stop

  • Don't call the number on the screen, and don't let anyone who calls you back into the machine.
  • Don't pay anyone claiming to be Microsoft or Apple support.
  • Don't install a second 'cleaner' program to fix the first one — that's usually how it multiplies.
  • Don't keep banking or shopping on a machine you suspect is compromised.

Before you come in

  • Bring the charger and your login password.
  • Tell us if you gave anyone remote access, and roughly when.
  • List the accounts you use on the machine so we can advise on what to secure.
  • Note whether anything was purchased or paid during the incident.

How the visit goes

  • Walk in Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 3 PM.
  • This is a drop-off job. Proper cleanup takes scanning, verification, and testing.
  • We check drive health while we're in there, because a slow machine isn't always malware.
  • You get a plain-language explanation of what we found and what let it in.

Gulfport virus and malware removal questions

I got a pop-up saying my computer is infected and to call a number. Is it real?

No. That message is the scam. Don't call it, don't let anyone remote in, and bring the machine to us.

Can Macs get malware?

Yes. Mac adware and scam software are common, and we remove both.

Will you have to erase my computer?

Usually not. A wipe is a last resort, and if we think it's necessary we'll explain why before doing it.

I let someone remote into my computer. What now?

Bring it in as soon as you can and tell us. We'll check what was installed and changed, and advise on which passwords and accounts to secure first.

My computer is slow — is it a virus?

Sometimes. It's also often a failing drive or a full one. We check drive health as part of the job so you don't pay for the wrong fix.

How long does malware removal take?

Typically a drop-off with a same-week turnaround, depending on what we find. We'll give you a realistic estimate at intake.
